Instagram Influencer Feature

The problem:
Instagram influencers need to promote their sponsored products because they need to make a commission and their followers want to purchase them, but there isn't a seamless way for influencers to link their sponsored products within Instagram without using a third party application.

I conducted user interviews with Instagram influencers and Instagram followers to determine needs and purchasing habits. Through my research, I learned majority of followers purchase through the “swipe up” feature on Instagram. If it links to a liketoknow.it page, the follower will second guess buying the product and doesn’t end up buying the product. All followers mentioned that they want an ease of purchasing.

After conducting research, my recommendations were:

  1. Influencers to be able to link products directly by tagging products on their posts, such as the "View Products" feature

  2. A feature within the Discover and Explore page specifically showcasing influencers and their sponsored products.

In my Foundations of UX Design class, I have been able to make my recommendations come to life. Below are sketches and low fidelity wireframes.

Our feeds are so confusing for both viewers and creators now, and it takes away focus from creating and throws it onto figuring out the “system” so our content can be seen by our followers.
